Caterpillar has produced tricone drill bits that are suitable for severe rotary blasthole applications, with lowered cost of drilling proven in copper, iron ore and coal mines.
With Cat’s heat treatment technology and air-cooled bearing design, the drill bits now have a longer life, ultimately pushing drilling costs down.
The carbide shapes and cutting face arrangements also sustain high wear resistance and improve rock fragmentation, and its long-lasting cutting structure delivers a high rate of penetration.
Cat’s technology also prevents cuttings and unbroken rock ridges from inflicting severe wear on the cone.
Further, the gauge row design of the bits improves resistance to diameter shrinkage.
The bit line comes in six diameters ranging between 171–311mm.
